Northern California State Advocate – John Prelip
I live in El Dorado County. I am a Master Educator, trail guide with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association, docent and board member for the Eldorado National Forest Interpretive Association, volunteer for the Golden Empire Council, BSA and an Exploring Advisor for El Dorado County Sheriff Explorers.
California is home to many highly impacted trails. Exploring the outdoors has sky rocketed and along with that comes a greater need for awareness of Leave No Trace principles. My goal is to develop partnerships and recruit new trainers to increase the spread of Leave No Trace education and protect California’s outdoor places.
Please contact me, at NoCAAdvocate@LNT.org if you are interested in supporting, volunteering or becoming more involved with the Leave No Trace program.
Southern California State Advocate – Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia began his connection to nature exploring the Los Angeles River. While growing up in Los Angeles, a mentor requested that Michael explore the natural watershed of the San Gabriel River. Michael has continued the inspiration and foundation that was created that day in the Angeles National Forest. Since 2002 Michael has been involved in outdoor education. He has instructed, trained, and inspired future stewards as a Leave No Trace Master Educator. As your Southern California State Advocate, Michael understands the challenge of improving impacted open spaces. Through community outreach and education Michael will continue to deliver and inspire the Leave No Trace ethic to a diverse population.
Please contact Michael at SoCAAdvocate@LNT.org.
