Michael Garcia & Rebecca Souther
Southern California State Advocate – Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia began his connection to nature by exploring the Los Angeles River. While growing up in Los Angeles, a mentor requested that Michael explore the natural watershed of the San Gabriel River. Michael has continued the inspiration and foundation that was created that day in the Angeles National Forest. Since 2002 Michael has been involved in outdoor education. He has instructed, trained, and inspired future stewards as a Leave No Trace Master Educator. As your Southern California State Advocate, Michael understands the challenge of improving impacted open spaces. Through community outreach and education Michael will continue to deliver and inspire the Leave No Trace ethic to a diverse population.

Northern California State Advocate – Rebecca Souther
Hi NorCal! My name is Rebecca Souther and I am located in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a member of Girl Scouts and a youth educator for my local park authority in my late teens and early adulthood, I have been a lover and steward of the outdoors for the better part of my life. As your Northern California advocate, I want to support you and your community in minimizing human impact on our natural environment by providing awareness courses & initiatives, educational resources, and opportunities to use Leave No Trace principles while recreating outdoors and in your daily life. If any individuals or organizations are interested in volunteering, connecting with a Leave No Trace trainer, or simply just wanting to learn more, I would love to hear from you!
