Kern River 2016

Bakersfield, CA

With over 500,000 people coming to the Kern River Valley each year, it’s become imperative to reach visitors with Leave No Trace education. With this thought in mind, Gary Ananian, founder of the Kern River Conservancy, nominated the Kern River to be a part of the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics 2016 Hot Spot program. After being selected, the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers spent 9 days in the valley working with schools, local businesses and land managers to increase the collective Leave No Trace knowledge, thereby reducing future recreational impacts.
