Leave No Trace Spotlight: Oxley Nature Center

Leave No Trace’s new Spotlight program is a multi-day event to bring attention to community conservation, spread education, and to build momentum and inspire involvement for the future.

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will be at the Oxley Nature Center Spotlight November 11-12, collaborating with hosts and partners on a variety of programs including stewardship projects, workshops, and community outreach.

Opportunities to Get Involved:

Saturday, November 11

Youth Educator Workshop: 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Oxley Nature Center
Specifically designed for local teachers, guides, camp staff, and other full-time/seasonal youth educators interested in teaching kids how to enjoy all outdoor spaces, including Oxley and Tulsa Parks, responsibly. Topics include best practices for effectively reaching youth with Leave No Trace, including fun and interactive educational games and activities. Register here.

Sunday, November 12

Stewardship Project: 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Oxley Nature Center
Give back to Tulsa Parks and Oxley Nature Center by volunteering to plant trees and remove invasive species from the trails. Must be able to walk/hike on uneven terrain. Dress for the weather and wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Register here.

Happy Hour and Trivia: 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at 2113 E Admiral Blvd, Tulsa, OK 74110
Stop by Heirloom Rustic Ales to meet staff and volunteers from Oxley Nature Center, Tulsa Urban Wilderness Coalition, and the Leave No Trace organization to learn how practicing Leave No Trace can help keep Oxley, Tulsa Parks, and our surrounding areas safe and sustainable. Whether you are new to Leave No Trace or consider yourself an expert, join us for this interactive game night to gauge your knowledge of Leave No Trace practices and principles while learning tips and techniques for protecting all your favorite outdoor spaces. Don’t miss this chance to participate in fun stewardship trivia and win some prizes!
