Position Title: Manager of Sustainable Tourism and Partnerships
FLSA Status: Full Time (40 hours/week), Exempt

The Leave No Trace Sustainable Tourism team works with State, Regional, and Local partners to promote minimum-impact education for communities. These entities provide critical education touchpoints for visitors and locals alike. Leave No Trace works to create a community-wide approach to responsible recreation through coalition building.

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Sustainable Tourism and Partnerships, this position manages a subset of Leave No Trace partner accounts and their respective projects while also contributing to the development of the overall sustainable tourism program. Services to clients include leading courses, developing custom messaging, auditing outreach channels, and aligning stakeholder groups.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Knowledge or certification in Leave No Trace educational curriculum preferred.
  • Works within the Tourism Partnership program to:
    • Facilitate client-facing meetings that include strategic planning, community coalition building, and topical focus groups. This occurs in both virtual and in-person formats.
    • Transpose the Leave No Trace educational program into custom messaging and assets for partners across a variety of mediums.
    • Regularly report progress to clients and track project KPIs in a shared dashboard.
    • Assist in the acquisition of new partners in the sustainable tourism industry.
    • Ability to manage a small network of vendors to fulfill client services.
  • Works within the Education Team to create and review educational and training curriculum and content, assist or lead Leave No Trace training, and attend Education Team meetings and work sessions.
  • Research, develop, and implement strategies to facilitate the continued growth of tourism and education programs and to reach a larger and more diverse audience. 
  • Act as an ambassador for Leave No Trace, fostering relationships with key stakeholders to increase the effectiveness of programs. 
  • Create and deliver dynamic, engaging educational sessions for various partner groups and occasional industry trade shows.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and evaluations and capture success metrics of services, adjusting or adding new programs with market forces.
  • Develop new resources and strategies to ensure high quality, Leave No Trace training/courses.

Knowledge Required For The Job

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience working in a project management capacity with relevant examples.
  • High level of organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong writing skills will be a critical part of this role.
  • Experience in activity planning, scheduling, equipment and material purchasing, problem-solving, documentation, and evaluation.
  • Some knowledge of marketing systems and processes, both digital and physical.
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, good organization and communication skills, integrity, stamina, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
  • Experience in Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Etc…) along with Zoom meeting facilitation.
  • Must be a team player.

Environmental Demands: Work is in both a standard office setting and outdoors. Because programming occurs out-of-doors, there are many potentially discomforting and/or hazardous situations, such as insect bites, snakebites, poison ivy, extreme weather conditions, and other hazards associated with outdoor physical activities.  

The Manager of Sustainable Tourism and Partnerships will travel occasionally (less than 10% of the total schedule) to meet some clients in person and attend industry trade shows.

Salary Range and Location: $55,000 – $65,000 annually based on commensurate skills and experience. This award-winning organization’s culture includes a flexible schedule and a great work/life balance. Excellent 100% covered health, retirement, and time off benefits are included.

Leave No Trace’s headquarters are located in Boulder, Colorado. Both in-office and remote work arrangements will be considered for this position.
