Leave No Trace Spotlight: Skate Creek Road

Leave No Trace’s new Spotlight program is a multi-day event to bring attention to community conservation, spread education, and to build momentum and inspire involvement for the future.

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will be at the Skate Creek Road Spotlight July 14-16, collaborating with hosts and partners on a variety of programs including community outreach and a stewardship project.

Opportunities to Get Involved:

Friday, July 14:

6:00 – 8:00 pm: Leave No Trace Family Outreach Evening at Packwood Community Park. Join Leave No Trace, Pinchot Partners, and Gifford Pinchot Trash Force for an evening of fun and learning, including family-friendly games and activities. Learn more about how to protect nature and the outdoors while enjoying s’mores and a fun gathering in the park!

Saturday, July 15:

10:00 am – 2:00 pm: Outreach at the Packwood Saturday Market. Meet Spotlight partners and the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team to learn more about ways to protect Skate Creek and all your favorite outdoor spaces during summer outings and beyond.

6:00 – 8:00 pm:  Community Outreach Evening & Trivia Night at Packwood Brewery.  Join Leave No Trace, Pinchot Partners, and Gifford Pinchot Trash Force for a social hour and trivia game to learn more about how to Leave No Trace and protect your favorite places while hiking, camping, and enjoying the outdoors.

Sunday, July 16:

11:30 am – 3:00 pm: Volunteer Clean Up Stewardship Project at Cannon Road, FS 5290. Join Leave No Trace and volunteers from Gifford Pinchot Trash Force and Pinchot Partners for a campsite and trash clean up and learning about Leave No Trace. Wear closed-toed shoes/boots and bring water, sunscreen & sunglasses, and work gloves if you have them. Meet at 11:30 am at Packwood Community Hall for carpooling, 12935 US-12 Highway Packwood WA 98361.
