Leave No Trace Hot Spot - Service Project at San Diego River Gorge 

 

Date: Saturday, April 30, 2022


Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm PDT


Where: San Diego River Gorge Trailhead

 

Join the Subaru/Leave No Trace Team and US Forest Staff and partners for a fun volunteer day. Volunteers will work on projects to address impacts to the San Diego River Gorge. Work will include wildflower seed planting, trail maintenance, and a trash/litter cleanup. Volunteers will be introduced to Leave No Trace and the Hot Spot program, receive a rundown on the service project and safety briefing, and learn more about how to protect the San Diego River Gorge and its popular trails and waterfalls. Volunteers will be assigned to different tasks on the day of the project based on the number and interests of volunteers.  NOTE: If you are interested in the trail work only, please send an email to [email protected] (trail work is limited to 6 people per project lead).



 

Important Information:


– Bring 2 full water bottles per person, snacks, hat, sunscreen (and mask/face covering if desired). Wear long pants and closed-toed shoes.


– Please bring your own gloves if possible; otherwise, gloves, tools, other PPE as needed will be provided. If you have your own gardening tools such as shovels and loppers, please bring them.

Parking & Directions: 
The San Diego River Gorge Trailhead is the parking area for Cedar Creek Falls. Parking is available at the trailhead. Carpooling is encouraged due to limited trailhead parking. 

 

To reach the trailhead from Ramona, head south on San Vicente Road. Then turn left onto Ramona Oaks Road, then turn right onto Thornbush Road. Follow this road until it dead ends at the Trailhead. Trailhead address is 15519 Thornbush Road. Ramona, CA 92065
