Roxborough State Park
Roxborough State Park has established a productive partnership with the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics to develop a comprehensive action plan. The principles of Leave No Trace have been adopted throughout the park in order to help address the impacts from recent increases in visitation, helping preserve the park’s unparalleled scenery and natural resources and enhancing visitors’ experiences.
Leave No Trace education has been integrated into many facets of Roxborough State Park, including signage, youth and adult programs, printed and online materials, and staff and volunteer training opportunities. Additionally, Roxborough State Park has integrated the Seven Principles and other Leave No Trace information, tailoring it for the park’s specific audiences.
- The Roxborough State Park volunteers established a trained Leave No Trace Steering Committee committed to continued growth and implementation of Leave No Trace on-site.
- Roxborough State Park is working with Leave No Trace and Colorado Parks and Wildlife to develop streamlined tools and resources to assist other parks and protected areas in Colorado and across the country in further implementation of Leave No Trace.
- Roxborough State Park achieved a score above 80 percent on the Center’s Gold Standard Site evaluation analysis.
