AJ Heil

Wisconsin State Advocate

AJ currently serves as the Outdoor Pursuits Program Director at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Leave No Trace state advocate for Wisconsin. Working in both of these roles, AJ co-teaches a variety of Leave No Trace trainer courses and awareness workshops each year with the goal to empower dozens of other educators, leaders, and enthusiasts with Leave No Trace knowledge and teaching skills. Wisconsin is a state with diverse waterways, ecosystems, and recreation environments that desperately needs more people practicing and teaching Leave No Trace principles. AJ is actively working to expand Leave No Trace courses and opportunities in Wisconsin so that others are empowered and excited about Leave No Trace. Please join AJ in building and maintaining a community of people who are passionate about Leave No Trace and interested in sharing the principles with others.
