Acadia National Park 2016

Bar Harbor, ME

Acadia National Park, located on the Atlantic coast, is made up of 47,000-acres. A popular destination, it is marked by woodland, rocky beaches and granite peaks. However over the years, problems from overuse and crowding in the park have surfaced including social trails, trail widening, switchback cutting, off-trail travel, and visitors building cairns. The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainer team hosted formal trainings and workshops attended by volunteers, local stakeholders and park staff. Leave No Trace also had a presence at the Acadia National Park Science Day Event, during which they educated visitors on reducing impacts in the park and the Seven Principles.
