Scott Johnston

Maryland State Advocate

Hello, my name is Scott. I was born in Maryland, raised, and living in the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians of Hagerstown with my family. Even though I have been hiking, camping, and teaching Leave no Trace for many years, I can not deny my second love of near and on-shore activities like boating and fishing. After camping under the stars for 2 to 3 months in total each year for two decades, my eyes and very soul have opened up to the importance of minimizing our outdoor activity impacts. I believe that “beyond the imagination of a wilderness is a wilderness for the imagination” for all, as long as we individually do our part to be good stewards and always, as a lifestyle, share the good stewardship Leave No Trace news with all. This is not only my belief but my continued goal in life. If I may be of assistance in planning an event in your area or if you would like to become more involved in spreading the Leave No Trace good news message, feel free to contact me!
