2024 Spotlight Nominations Open

Erin Collier - August 1, 2023

Nominations for 2024 Leave No Trace Spotlights open August 7th!  Sites chosen as Spotlights receive up to three days of programs which include a stewardship project and a unique blend of education and outreach. Nominating a site takes only 15 minutes.

Our outdoor areas are facing many challenges, but with those challenges come people putting local stewardship into action. Leave No Trace wants to shine a spotlight on these challenges and the communities that are rising to meet them.

Spotlights create opportunities for communities to be the solution to conservation. Land managers, local groups, and organizations are all encouraged to apply to participate in the program.

In the first half of 2023 alone, Spotlights involved over 8,000 individuals in Leave No Trace education, engaged 40 groups in community conservation, and completed 1,500 volunteer hours in 12 sites across the country.

We are excited to grow these efforts in 2024, and the first step is gathering nominations. It takes only 15 minutes to complete a site nomination. You can support the program by nominating a site or sharing the nomination with a local organization.

Sites will receive up to three days of programming conducted by the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Teams that include service projects, staff and community training, and outreach programs. Nominations close September 15th.
