What It Means To Be A Leave No Trace Gold Standard Site


The San Juan Islands National Monument was designated a Leave No Trace Gold Standard Site in 2017. Kelsey Kittleson from the San Juan Islands Conservation District and Skeet Townley from the San Juan Islands National Monument joined us to share what it means to be a Leave No Trace Gold Standard Site, along with some tips on how you can best practice Leave No Trace when visiting the San Juan Islands.

The San Juan Islands are the Ancestral Lands and Waters of the Lekwungen/Songhees, Hul’qumi’num Treaty Group, Stz’uminus, Sauk Suiattle, S’Klallam, Samish, Á,LEṈENEȻ ȽTE (W̱SÁNEĆ), Tulalip, Lhaq’temish (Lummi) and other Coast Salish People.
