Tourism

Leave No Trace’s state and regional tourism partnerships work to provide a consistent message of sustainable tourism to visitors in states and communities across the country. Tourism provides an excellent framework for teaching and sharing Leave No Trace and expanding its sphere of influence. Partnerships with state and regional tourism offices offer unique opportunities to expose outdoor visitors to Leave No Trace first while planning their visits and then at specific touchpoints throughout their trip.

Visit New Hampshire

“Following COVID, we have seen a tremendous amount of people who want to be outside and experience all the best of what New Hampshire offers.  We sought a partnership with  ‘Leave No Trace’ in an effort to build a strong foundation that will help us work to educate visitors and residents alike about the necessity to preserve and respect the state’s natural assets to ensure it’s here for future generations to enjoy.” — Taylor Caswell, New Hampshire Commissioner of the Department of Business and Economic Affairs

Arizona Office of Tourism

“It is a natural fit for the Arizona Office of Tourism to partner with a premier responsible tourism organization like Leave No Trace. We’re both dedicated to ensuring the health and longevity of all the destinations and natural features that make our state spectacular and attract millions of visitors each year.” — Debbie Johnson, Director of the Arizona Office of Tourism

Visit NC and North Carolina Outdoor Recreation Industry Office

“The partnership with Leave No Trace will enlarge the substantial economic activity generated by travelers and North Carolina’s outdoor recreation industry. Stewardship of the state’s natural wonders will also ensure the future for the ageless places that define who we are, arouse our awe and make us humble, and turn our sights outward to infinite possibility.” — Wit Tuttell , Director of Visit NC

Colorado Tourism Office

In 2017, Colorado’s Tourism Office (CTO) became the first state in the nation to partner with Leave No Trace. The Center and CTO joined forces to create Colorado-tailored Leave No Trace educational messages and an Are You Colorado Ready campaign to educate both in state and out of state travelers about protecting Colorado’s precious natural resources. Through this partnership CTO and the Center have built a coalition of businesses and organizations that are working together to promote stewardship of Colorado’s outdoors.

Destination Door County
