Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area 2016

Wilson Creek, VA

The Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, located in southwest Virginia, takes up approximately 150,000 acres of National Forest land near Mount Rogers. The National Recreation Area sees about 220,000 visitors annually and contains 3 different wilderness areas. Regulations such as group size vary between areas, and impacts include trail braiding and widening, erosion, improper disposal of human waste and trash, and visitors feeding the wild ponies. The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainer team visited three schools and educated hundreds of kids on the Seven Leave No Trace Principles. The team also hosted a workshop for Appalachian Trail Club volunteers and spent 3 days collecting trash with volunteers in the Grayson Highlands area.

Your donation helps bring Leave No Trace solutions to these impacted areas.
