Course Description:
Join Hiking Hound Adventures, LLC for a fully guided 2-day, 1-night backpacking trip on the South Loop of the Pinchot Trail while earning your Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor certification. This field-based training blends outdoor ethics education with a beginner-friendly backcountry experience.

What to Expect

Guided Backpacking: Hike about 5 miles on Day 1 and 5 miles on Day 2 through rolling hills, forests, and stream corridors. Instructors manage route-finding, group pacing, and safety.

Backcountry Camping Experience: Practice campsite selection, kitchen setup, food storage, and low-impact living.

Meals Included: Lunch and dinner on Day 1, and breakfast and lunch on Day 2 are provided.

Optional Gear Rentals: Complete backpacking gear available for rent.

Leave No Trace Training: Skills instruction integrated into the trail experience, preparing you to teach LNT principles in real-world settings.

This backpacking course can be followed by a 2-day, in-person Wilderness First Aid Certification course on May 3–4, 2026, ideal for participants who want to complete all certifications before starting summer programs at parks, camps, and outdoor organizations.
