Leave No Trace – Virtual Trainer Course
August 31, September 1, 7, & 8th, 2022. Wed/Thurs, 4:00pm-6:30pm mountain time, UTC-6
Course Overview: Putting Leave No Trace into action in the outdoors is the best way to ensure a sustainable recreation future for our shared lands. Leave No Trace is for anyone and everyone who enjoys spending time outside. Whether you camp, hike, fish, mountain bike, picnic, hunt, backpack, ski, or climb, Leave No Trace training can conserve and protect the outdoor spaces you love.
Wild Rose Education is pleased to offer the Virtual Leave No Trace Trainer Course as a commitment to help outdoor leaders strengthen their facilitation skills.
This LNT Trainer Course will dive into the ‘why’ of LNT skills and ethics as well as spend considerable time with techniques for effectively facilitating learning opportunities to share these low impact practices with students of all ages. A lens of equity and inclusion will be embedded throughout the entirety of the course.
This course is ideal for outdoor leaders who have knowledge of the LNT principles and take people of all ages outdoors for single or multi-day courses. Participants will prepare and practice teach an in-person lesson during the course (topics will be selected by participants on the first day of the course). A strong focus on teaching and learning as well as wildland ethics will be incorporated into this virtual training.
This course involves 20 hours of instruction, involving approximately ten (10) hours of synchronous instruction (all course participants together via zoom) and a minimum of ten (10) hours of asynchronous instruction (self-directed learning offline).
This course is exceptionally well-suited for both domestic (USA) and international participants! It eliminates the travel costs associated with in-person Trainer Courses and can be taken anywhere there is a reliable internet connection.
This Leave No Trace Virtual Trainer Course is not a 100% self-paced course. There are specific assignments with deadlines that must be completed on time in order to complete the course. Furthermore, full attendance and participation in all synchronous portions of the course is required for course completion. The synchronous portions of this course are designed to be interactive learning opportunities that fully engage all participants by using various online learning tools and are not recorded.
