Leave No Trace Spotlight: Smithgall Woods State Park

Join Leave No Trace in Smithgall Woods State Park, GA – March 21-23, 2024

We hand-select nominated outdoor spaces that need our collective care and attention. By designating them as Spotlights, we’re rallying the local community to step up, join forces with Leave No Trace, and make a meaningful impact that can revitalize and protect these special places where we recreate, enjoy one another’s company, and elevate our health physically, mentally and emotionally. 

Smithgall Woods State Park has been selected as a 2024 Leave No Trace Spotlight. The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will be at Smithgall Woods State Park March 21-23, collaborating with hosts and partners on a variety of programs including stewardship projects, workshops, and community outreach.

Opportunities to Get Involved:

Friday, March 22: Leave No Trace Trivia at JumpinGoat Coffee Roasters, 3:00 – 5:00 pm.

Whether you are new to Leave No Trace or consider yourself an expert, join Smithgall Woods at JumpinGoat Coffee Roasters for an interactive game night to gauge your knowledge of Leave No Trace practices and principles while learning tips and techniques for protecting all your favorite outdoor spaces. Enjoy some amazing coffee and baked goods while maybe learning something new! Don’t miss this chance to participate in fun stewardship trivia and win some great prizes
– A Leave No Trace booth will be at JumpinGoat, with information and for any questions, at 3:00pm.
-Trivia will begin at 4:00pm.

Saturday, March 23: Volunteer Stewardship Project, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, Smithgall Woods State Park.

Join Leave No Trace and Smithgall Woods for a fun project day as part of the Smithgall Woods State Park Leave No Trace Spotlight! For this Spotlight, we will be tackling invasive plants ,such as Privet and Autumn Olive, at one of our education sites and camps.
