Leave No Trace Spotlight: Deschutes River

Leave No Trace’s new Spotlight program is a multi-day event to bring attention to community conservation, spread education, and to build momentum and inspire involvement for the future.

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will be at the Deschutes River Spotlight July 28-30, collaborating with hosts and partners on a variety of programs including stewardship projects, workshops, and community outreach.

Opportunities to Get Involved:

Friday, July 28: Bend Park and Recreation District Community Celebration, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Come to Alpenglow Park for the BPRD Community Celebration including a variety of partners. Meet the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team to learn more about the 7 Principles and test your knowledge with games.

Saturday, July 29: UDWC River Cleanup Stewardship Event, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Join the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council and Leave No Trace for an annual day of stewardship, the Deschutes River Cleanup. From 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, community volunteers of all ages are invited to pull invasive weeds, remove litter from the stream banks, and dive instream to pull debris out of the river. Meet at Farewell Bend Park to prepare for the cleanup, 1000 SW Reed Market, Bend, OR 97702. After volunteering, there will be a celebration party at Crux Fermentation Project from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, 50 SW Division St, Bend, OR 97702.

Sunday, July 30: Park and Float, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
