Leave No Trace Spotlight: Peninsula State Park

Leave No Trace’s new Spotlight program is a multi-day event to bring attention to community conservation, spread education, and to build momentum and inspire involvement for the future.

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will be at the Peninsula State Park Spotlight June 8-10, collaborating with hosts and partners on a variety of programs including stewardship projects, workshops, and community outreach.

Opportunities to Get Involved:

Thursday, June 8: Social, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Join Leave No Trace, Destination Door County, local park rangers, and Friends of Peninsula State Park for a social. Enjoy games, food trucks, and giveaways at the Fish Creek parking lot at 9462 Shore Road, Fish Creek, WI 54212

Friday, June 9: Events all day at Eagle Tower at Peninsula State Park, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will have a table at Eagle Tower from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. Stop by to learn about Leave No Trace practices and endemic species found around the Niagara escarpment.

1:00 pm and 3:00 pm: Join a park naturalist for a short guided hike along the Sentinel Trail to learn about the park ecology and Leave No Trace ethics.

7:00 pm: Community Campfire with Leave No Trace and Warden Couperus at the White Cedar Nature Center Amphitheatre. Come hang out to learn about campfire safety and s’mores.

Saturday, June 10: National Get Outdoors Day stewardship event, 8:00 am – 11:30 am

Come volunteer on National Get Outdoors Day to clean up litter, remove invasive plants, or maintain trails. Meet at Nelson’s Point to help clean up the park and improve the natural environment.
