Leave No Trace Spotlight: Mammoth Lakes

Join Leave No Trace in Mammoth Lakes, CA – May 30-June 1, 2024

We hand-select nominated outdoor spaces that need our collective care and attention. By designating them as Spotlights, we’re rallying the local community to step up, join forces with Leave No Trace, and make a meaningful impact that can revitalize and protect these special places where we recreate, enjoy one another’s company, and elevate our health physically, mentally and emotionally. 

Mammoth Lakes has been selected as a 2024 Leave No Trace Spotlight. The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will be at Mammoth Lakes May 30-June 1, collaborating with hosts and partners on a variety of programs including stewardship projects, workshops, and community outreach.

Friday, May 31:  Leave No Trace Trivia Night & Pop-Up Education, 6:30 pm, Mammoth Brewing Company

Meet Leave No Trace and partners with Mammoth Lakes Recreation at Mammoth Brewing Company for a night of trivia and fun-filled education. Learn all about Leave No Trace practices and the local ecosystem and area. Test your knowledge, win prizes, and learn easy ways to protect the incredible outdoor spaces in Mammoth Lakes. As a bonus, celebrate a “Toast to Trails” with the NEW Lake Daze Hazy IPA – a special collaboration brew where a portion of every sale is donated to MLR to enhance outdoor recreation opportunities for all!

Saturday, June 1: Mammoth National Trails Day Volunteer Stewardship Project, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, Meet at Mammoth Lakes Library

Join Leave No Trace, the  Town of Mammoth Lakes and Inyo National Forest as we welcome partners and friends for trail work and stewardship efforts on the Mammoth Lakes Trail System. Enjoy a free bagel breakfast and learn how to protect and keep Mammoth beautiful. Come prepared for trail maintenance, landscape restoration, and general cleanup activities.

PLEASE DRESS FOR TRAIL WORK: Sturdy, close-toed shoes, long pants, and gloves. All tools will be provided.

Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome!
