Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course – AAI

Date: October 4th – 5th, 2025

Location: Bellingham, WA (Backcountry Course)

Every time we step into the backcountry we have an impact. We walk on terrain that may be changed by our method of travel. We build our campsites in fragile alpine environments, cook food that entices wild animals, and manage our own waste. The Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course was designed to help you mitigate these impacts and to teach others how to do the same.

The Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course is a two-day program with two objectives. The first is for students to have a better understanding of the principles of Leave No Trace, and the second is to complete some kind of wilderness objective. This course takes place on either a short overnight backpacking trip or on a basic alpine climb.
