Join Leave No Trace at Lake Sidney Lanier, GA- September 11-13, 2026

Each year, Leave No Trace hand-selects nominated outdoor spaces that deserve collective care and attention. By designating them as Spotlights, we’re rallying the local community to step up, join forces with Leave No Trace, and make a meaningful impact that can revitalize and protect these special places where we recreate, enjoy one another’s company, and elevate our health physically, mentally and emotionally.

Lake Sidney Lanier has been selected as a 2026 Leave No Trace Spotlight. The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will be at Lake Sidney Lanier September 11-13, collaborating with hosts and partners on a variety of programs including workshops, community outreach, and stewardship projects.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 | 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Leave No Trace Spotlight Pop-Up Education & Summer Send-Off

Join Leave No Trace, the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources, the National Park Service, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, and other partners for a fun, family-friendly summer send-off! Enjoy hands-on games and interactive activities to learn more about Leave No Trace and how to protect the Lake, swim safely, and enjoy the outdoors all year long! Bonus activity: Stop by the Leave No Trace booth with your beach bucket for a Microtrash Collection Challenge for a chance to win prizes.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 | 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Community Project – Trail and Park Clean up

Join Leave No Trace, the USACE and partners for a rewarding volunteer day, as we work to clean and rehab the Little Ridge trail and Little Ridge Park itself. Volunteers will be introduced to Leave No Trace and learn more about stewardship education. Any and all equipment will be provided. For more information, contact Ranger Merritt at 770-904-3294.
