Volunteer Stewardship Project - Stone Valley Recreation Area

Join Leave No Trace and Penn State University Outdoor Adventures Program during the Stone Valley Recreation Area Leave No Trace Spotlight for a fun and rewarding volunteer project including trail maintenance and resurfacing to enhance one of Penn State’s Nurture in Nature trails, which help visitors feel more connected to nature.  Volunteers will learn more about stewardship education and how to protect and enjoy the beautiful resources of Stone Valley Recreation Area and surrounding public lands responsibly while also celebrating National Trails Day!

Important information: 
– Bring water, snacks, a hat, sunscreen, and dress for the weather.
– Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
– Long pants and closed-toed shoes are required.
– Tools & supplies provided, but please bring work gloves if you have them.
– Work may entail bending, kneeling, crouching, light lifting and a short walk from the meeting spot.
