Explore 250 Outdoor Challenge Pledge

America is turning 250. That’s 250 years of shared history — and landscapes that have shaped who we are.

Long before 1776, people lived, traveled, worked, and found meaning in these mountains, deserts, rivers, and cultural sites. Today, those same places still tell our story. And their future depends on how we treat them.

This year, we’re inviting kids and young adults to step outside and be part of something bigger.

Take the Explore 250 Pledge

By taking this pledge, you commit to exploring the outdoors responsibly and completing the Explore 250 Outdoor Challenge. Along the way, you’ll build skills, learn practical ways to care for public lands, and help protect the places that make this country worth celebrating. Throughout 2026:
  • Complete activities in the Explore 250 booklet
  • Earn points as you go (each challenge counts once)
  • Work toward a goal of 250 points
  • Explore at home, in your neighborhood, or on public lands
  • Invite friends and family to join you
When you reach 250 points, submit your total to receive your official Explore 250 Challenge Certificate.
