Outdoor Educator + Mountain Guide + Full Circle Expeditions Executive Director

Phil Henderson - Leave No Trace Ambassador
I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I was exposed to oceans and deserts early in life. However, it was not until I moved to the San Francisco Bay area that I began my current journey outdoors. I took a NOLS course in 1992 and since that time I have worked in the industry as an outdoor educator, whitewater guide, mountain guide, and Leave No Trace Master Educator. I have been blessed with opportunities to work around the globe with guides, porters, and rangers in technical skills and environmental education.

Why did you become a Leave No Trace Ambassador?

I decided to become an LNT Master as a way to continue to educate land users and land managers on environmental stewardship on a high level.  I believe environmental stewardship is a task that requires continued education. I am a role model for others and I know I have an impact educating others in environmental stewardship.

What is your favorite way to get outside?

My favorite way to get outside is on skis. I love winter travel, skiing, and BC skiing. I love the remoteness, quietness and tranquility that winter brings. Winter is like a cleansing and renewal of the environment as well as my soul.
