Alondra Crego is a PhD candidate and researcher in recreation ecology based in Patagonia, Argentina. Her research focuses on the ecological and social dimensions of outdoor recreation in protected mountain areas, with particular emphasis on recreation ecology, visitor use management, and socio-ecological systems.
Her research is primarily conducted in Nahuel Huapi National Park in northern Patagonia, where she works with managers and other stakeholders to inform visitor use management. Her current research examines recreational use of mountain trails and backcountry campsites, including long-term changes in temporal and spatial patterns of visitor use, visitor perceptions and acceptability, and the ecological impacts of recreation.
Alondra is also involved in ecological restoration and environmental education in Patagonia. She is a co-founder of Circuito Verde, an NGO that promotes ecological restoration, environmental education, and community participation. Through this work, she has contributed to restoration projects in Patagonia and environmental education programs associated with outdoor recreation.
Alondra holds a BSc in Environmental Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Río Negro and a Diploma in Environmental Education from the Universidad Nacional del Comahue. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Biology at the Universidad Nacional del Comahue, supported by a CONICET–National Parks Administration fellowship. She is a member of the Forest Ecology group at INIBIOMA-CONICET and the LabPIBAS research group at IANIGLA-CONICET.
