August 26, Washington State — This week, Airbnb announced a $1 million investment in environmental protection initiatives across Washington State. The funding commitment includes an expanded partnership with Leave No Trace, as well as donations to local nonprofits Washington’s National Park Fund and Trout Unlimited. Additionally, Airbnb is investing in climate-resilient forests through EFM and the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust on the Olympic Peninsula and western Washington State.
“Partners like Airbnb allow Leave No Trace to bring award-winning stewardship programs to Washington State and many other places around the nation. By exposing Airbnb guests to our proven education, visitors learn simple steps they can take to protect Washington’s extraordinary natural landscapes,” said Dana Watts, the Executive Director of Leave No Trace.
Leave No Trace’s partnership with Airbnb has already resulted in new outdoor ethics guides for visitors, co-promoted by Washington State Parks and the Washington Trails Association. Earlier this year, Airbnb’s support allowed Leave No Trace to conduct the nationally recognized Spotlights program, an in-person stewardship effort, in the City of Issaquah. Washington-based Airbnb hosts will integrate Leave No Trace education into their listings, helping ensure visitors have the knowledge and tools to enjoy nature responsibly and protecting Washington’s extraordinary natural landscapes for everyone.
Airbnb recently announced a special incentive for people who sign up to volunteer with Washington’s National Park Fund in the parks. In celebration of National Park Week, Airbnb has committed to supporting volunteer activities through the end of summer 2027, providing people who sign up to volunteer with Washington’s National Park Fund a $100 Airbnb credit while supplies last.
