Course Description:
This 2-day Leave No Trace Level I Instructor Course is designed to deepen your understanding of outdoor ethics and minimal impact recreation. This hands-on experience is ideal for anyone looking to teach Leave No Trace principles or build on existing knowledge with a stronger foundation in the science behind the Seven Principles. The course includes a two-day outdoor experience with one night in the field, where participants will practice techniques on day hikes and at camp. By the end of the course, you’ll walk away with the tools, confidence, and certification needed to effectively teach Leave No Trace principles and help foster a deeper outdoor ethic in your community.

The course fee includes a campsite, course supplies, and a Leave No Trace Level I Instructor certificate. Food and transportation are not included. Participants are responsible for bringing their own camping set up.

Location: Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument, Maine

Cost: $120 for the public, $80 for Friends of KKW members
