Project Learning Tree’s Explore Your Environment: K-8 Activity Guide includes 50 hands-on, multidisciplinary activities to connect children to nature and increase young people’s awareness and knowledge about their environment. Activities include detailed step-by-step instructions, academic correlations, time and material requirements, and corresponding student worksheets with green career connections. This supplementary curriculum is designed to develop students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Leave No Trace education can be fun and meaningful! Leave No Trace helps people of all ages learn how responsible actions can help protect the outdoors and our planet. The 7 Principles of Leave No Trace provide an easily understood framework of minimum impact practices for anyone visiting the outdoors. The principles can be applied anywhere — from remote wilderness areas to local parks and even in your backyard.
During the workshop, educators will discover how to use the two activity books (PLT’s Explore Your Environment: K-8 Activity Guide; Teaching Leave No Trace Activity Guide) and participate in ready-to-go lessons that can be used in a formal classroom setting, outdoors, or a non-formal education program. Lessons align with school curriculum objectives. SCECHs available upon request. Portions of the workshop will be held outdoors. Come prepared for the weather! Lunch provided and all registered participants will leave with PLT’s Explore Your Environment: K-8 Activity Guide, Teaching Leave No Trace activity guide, and certificate of completion.
Participants of this workshop will receive a Leave No Trace Certificate of Completion.
Cost: $45
