Leave No Trace – Virtual Level 1 Instructor Course

Course Dates: December 2-4, 2025

Time: Required Course Zoom Meetings: 9:30 am – 1:00 pm PT

Arcadia Guiding Outdoor Education is a non-profit organization which exists to offer a variety of Leave No Trace education. The Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course equips participants with the essential skills, ethics, and techniques needed to teach responsible outdoor practices. After completing a pre-course homework packet, we will meet over three consecutive days over video conference to discuss what we’ve learned, practice teaching these principles, and learn together how we can better present Leave No Trace to those within our personal contexts. Upon completion, you’ll be certified to lead Leave No Trace Skills Courses and Workshops in your community, empowering others to adopt sustainable outdoor practices.

• Total Hours
  • Synchronous (Live): 10 hours (via Google Meet)
  • Asynchronous (Self-paced): 6 hours
• Required Equipment
  • A computer, tablet, or laptop with internet
  • A forward-facing camera and a recording device

Certification and Expectations:

• Successful completion of all course assignments, live sessions, and a teaching exercise will earn you Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Certification.
• Certification is valid for two years, with opportunities to co-instruct Leave No Trace Level 1 and lead Workshops and Skills Courses.
• Course participants must be 18 or older.
