Dr. Chris Zajchowski

Chris is an Assistant Professor of Parks, Tourism, Recreation Ecology with University of Idaho and Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. He conducts research focused on human behavior in outdoor recreation and natural resource contexts. Chris’ scholarship and pedagogy center on his enduring belief that education for a more just and sustainable future includes a focus on non-traditional settings of learning, such as parks and protected areas, where transformative experiences can catalyze cognitive, affective, and behavioral change.

“My work looks at both how people recreating outdoors impact environments, but also how environmental factors, such as air quality, impact what people think, feel, and do when spending time outside.”
