Gold Standard Site

Jefferson County Open Space

Golden, CO

Jefferson County’s 27 Open Space Parks received Gold Standard Site designation in January 2024.

Jefferson County Open Space embraces Leave No Trace principles throughout our entire system of parks, so we were thrilled that our application to achieve Gold Standard designation across our system of parks was considered and awarded,” said Tom Hoby, Director of Jefferson County Open Space.

Jefferson County Open Space (JCOS) was founded as a land conservation organization in 1972 and exists to preserve open space and parkland, protect park and natural resources, and provide healthy, nature-based experiences. JCOS has preserved 57,809 acres of open space and provides 269 miles of authorized trails across 27 public parks.
