St. Andrews State Park Revisit 2016

Panama City, FL

St. Andrews State Park is located three miles east of Panama City Beach in Florida. In the 1,200-acre state park, the popular destination Shell Island sees over 2,000 visitors daily during the summer months. Problems include social trails in sensitive sand dune environments, trash and litter, habituated wildlife (deer), and fisherman impacts including fishing line and bait left behind. During the Hot Spot Revisit, the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainer team worked with volunteers, the Florida Conservation Corps, and rangers to help maintain a boardwalk on Shell Island. The team also held a training for agency employees and an action planning workshop.
