Devil’s Bathtub 2016

Roanoke, VA

Devil’s Bathtub is a scenic natural pool carved into rock and fed by a waterfall found at the end of a 7 mile trail. Located in George Washington and Jefferson National Forests in Virginia, the area is highly popular due to this unique natural feature, and despite it’s remote location, sees a very large number of visitors. Impacts to the area include trash, trail erosion, social trails, improper disposal of human waste, and water resource impacts. During this Hot Spot, the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainer team conducted workshops and youth and community outreach. They educated visitors to the Devil’s Fork Loop Trail on Leave No Trace and how it relates to the local ecology and provided a campfire presentation at High Knob Recreation Area.

Your donation helps bring Leave No Trace solutions to these impacted areas.
