Leave No Trace Is Successful

Mammoth Lakes, CA: December is well upon us; The time of year where we gather with family, celebrate the holidays and enjoy being cozy around the fire. With this comes a natural period of reflection. We look back on our accomplishments and perhaps ponder our goals ahead. In thinking about this in relation to Leave No Trace, it is not always so immediately clear whether or not we have made a difference. You see, if Leave No Trace is successful , you can't always visualize it because there would not be any signs of impacts. In addition, most people are transient visitors to the places they...

Leave No Trace For Pups

Brevard, NC: You wake up and the sun is shining without a cloud in the sky. The first thought that crosses your mind is that today would be a perfect day to get outside for a hike up your local mountain with your best-four-legged-friend. You pack your bag with food, water, and all the essentials for yourself along with a doggie backpack for your pet including treats, water, a leash, and some dog waste bags. Driving to the trailhead, you couldn’t be more excited for another adventure in the forest. Your pet is just as excited as it peeks its head out of the window with its tongue flapping in...

A Look Inside Our Partnership with Clif Bar

San Francisco, CA: This past Thursday we, The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers Team West, had the privilege of teaching an awareness workshop at the Clif Bar headquarters in Emeryville, CA. Let us just tell you, Clif Bar has one of the coolest offices we have ever seen! First, it was built with sustainability in mind (more on this later). Second, it is dog friendly! Third, every isle has plants that drape and twist about contributing to the endless green space vibe. Fourth, there is no shortage of natural light to help inspire a creative work flow. Fifth, there are four open air...

Beaux Bridge, LA--A slight tickle frisks my exhausted thigh: Over two mountains and down again we finally find ourselves wearily reclining on a Lay-Z-Boy-Rock: content and starving. The pesky tickling is vying for my attention but nothing can top the need for lunch, for canned tuna and a block of sharp cheddar. Spoon in hand, I dig into the tuna, now repackaged in my twice-before used Ziploc, and take a bite off the “block oh-cheddah”. I get that watery mouth feeling of pure enjoyment and as my spoon crescendos for another chomp, the hair on my legs begin to stand and the tickling becomes...

Kings Mountain National Military Park

Kings Mountain, SC: The beautiful and secluded National Military Park offers visitors a chance to step back in time while enjoying a peaceful out-of-doors experience. Kings Mountain was the location of a critical battle between Patriot and British forces in 1780, which prevented British forces from advancing northward. Many agree that the battle fought here was the turning point of the Revolutionary War. The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers spent three days with visitors and rangers in the effort to protect the trails and monuments of Kings Mountain National Military Park , a beloved...
