Why We Should All Pack Out Our Dog's Poo

High Falls, NY: Have you ever wondered why it is alright for bears and other wildlife to poo in the woods but not acceptable for our dogs? A bears diet consists mainly of natural plants and berries, while our pet's waste is considered unnatural. Dog food is derived from processed foods which we wouldn't typically find in nature. According to the CDC, or Center for Disease Control one days worth of dog waste can contain several billion fecal bacteria along with Giardia, hookworm, and tapeworms. If our pet waste reaches waterways, it can be harmful to other animals, wildlife, and even humans...

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers will be at the Patagonia store engaging with staff and customers on how to practice Leave No Trace in the great outdoors! Join them to learn tips and ticks on how to minimize your impact. They will be on site from 9am to 1pm.

Ward Elementary - Winston Salem, NC

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers will be offering a morning Leave No Trace program to a local school group in Winston Salem, NC.

 

Village Outdoor Shop - King, NC

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers will be on site facilitating a Leave No Trace workshop on the seven principles. Join us to learn tips and tricks on how to minimize your impact while recreating. The public is encouraged to attend! 

The North Face Workshop - Buckhead, GA

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers will facilitate booth outreach at The North Face Retail Store in Buckhead, GA from 12-4pm on Saturday, January 23rd. Come visit them to learn tips and tricks about how to minimize your impact while recreating!

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers will be conducting a Leave No Trace workshop for the CPC Hiking & Camping Clubs and local scout troops on Wednesday, January 13th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Clemmons Presbyterian Church

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers will be conducting a scout focused Leave No Trace workshop for Girl Scout Troop 11808 on Sunday, January 10th from 5 to 6:30 pm at Midway Methodist Church scout building in Alpharetta

Adirondack Mountain Club Winterfest - Lake Placid, NY

Winter Trails Day is a nation-wide, family friendly event, allowing children and adults the opportunity to try snowshoeing and cross country skiing for free, with the goal of helping participants discover these winter sports and their many benefits. Approximately 11,000 participants in 100 locations will get out on the snow this year on January 9th, 2016 in the 21st annual Winter Trails Day event!

Breaux Bridge, LA--Wrapping up our 2015 Hot Spot s, the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers East Central Team discovered the importance, culture, and recreational impact surrounding the Bayou Teche. In January, 2015, the waterway was designated a national water trail due to its scenic 135 miles that stretch through four parishes (or counties).
