Responsible Visitation to Indigenous Communities with AIANTA
The American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA) and Leave No Trace worked with a 25-member group of American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian community members to build education solutions for guests spending time in Indigenous communities across America.
The first resource is an education entry point for non-indigenous guests to tribal lands. It details the differences between these spaces and other public lands. The second resource is produced for indigenous leaders and gives consistent language to talk about their heritage and the expectations of visitors to their community.
