The Panelists

  • Moderated by Dana Watts, Leave No Trace Center Executive Director.
  • Dr. Peter Newman, Recreation Scientist at Penn State, will present new research on how COVID-19 is shaping recreation patterns.
  • Roger Semler, National Park Service Chief of Wilderness Stewardship will share the most important Leave No Trace considerations when visiting national parks this summer.
  • Shannon Davis, Editorial Director of Backpacker magazine will discuss outdoor sports and how online festivals and community building is helping fill gaps in the experiences people crave.
  • Erin Collier, a Leave No Trace Field Educator, will focus on how to find suitable camping/hiking/other outdoor recreation venues this summer.
  • Lisa Jhung, as a freelance writer, Lisa regularly contributes to tiles such as Backpacker, Outside and Women’s Running. She’s the author of two books: Trailhead: The Dirt on All Things Trail Running and Running That Doesn’t Suck.
