Ao designá-los como Spotlights, estamos a mobilizar a comunidade local para dar um passo em frente, unir forças com a Leave No Trace e causar um impacto significativo que pode revitalizar e proteger estes lugares especiais onde nos recreamos, desfrutamos da companhia uns dos outros e elevamos a nossa saúde física, mental e emocional. 

O Parque Nacional de Shenandoah foi selecionado como um dos locais de destaque do Leave No Trace em 2024. A equipa Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team estará no Parque Nacional de Shenandoah de 14 a 16 de junho, colaborando com os anfitriões e parceiros numa variedade de programas, incluindo projectos de gestão, workshops e sensibilização da comunidade.

FRIDAY, JUNE 14:

Campground Amphitheater Program, 7:00 – 8:00 pm, Big Meadows Amphitheater, Skyline Drive (mile 51)

Talkin’ Trash with Leave No Trace: How to Reduce Waste and Protect our National Parks
Learn how to protect and enjoy Shenandoah and all your favorite parks and outdoor spaces with practical and easy tips for reducing waste and visiting parks sustainably. Find out the rotten truth about trash, how long it takes for common trash items to decompose, why we should always pack it in, pack it out (including dog waste!) and other important ways to reduce our impacts through Leave No Trace. 

SATURDAY, JUNE 15:

Volunteer Stewardship Project, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, Rose River Falls Trail

Join Leave No Trace, Park Rangers, and partners for a fun volunteer day and stewardship project. Volunteers will rehabilitate backcountry campsites along Rose River Falls Trail. Volunteers will use their hands and light tools to move branches, leaves, and other natural materials to return campsites to a natural condition and discourage their use. These efforts will encourage backcountry campers to practice Leave No Trace principles, protect wilderness character, and adhere to the Park’s backcountry regulations. Registration is required. 

SUNDAY, JUNE 16:

Leave No Trace Pop-Up Education & Shenandoah National Park Outreach, 9:00 am, Dickey Ridge & Big Meadows Visitor Centers

Join Leave No Trace and Appalachian Trail Ridge Runners for outreach and education at the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center (mile 5 on Skyline Dr) and Big Meadows Visitor Center (mile 51). Learn more about Leave No Trace, sustainable ways to recreate, camp, and backpack, and how to protect the natural resources of Shenandoah National Park and all your favorite outdoor spaces.
