Kern River Hot Spot

Leave No Trace - March 25, 2016

Kernville, CA: The Kern River Valley is being loved to death by visitors. With over 500,000 people coming to the valley each year, it’s become imperative to reach visitors with Leave No Trace education. With this thought in mind, Gary Ananian, founder of the Kern River Conservancy, nominated the Kern River to be apart of the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics 2016 Hot Spot program. After being selected we, the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers Team West, spent 9 days in the valley working with schools, local businesses and land managers to increase the collective Leave No Trace knowledge, thereby reducing future recreational impacts. And now we invite you to meet the Kernville community, hear what they have to say about saving the Kern River Valley from avoidable human impacts and view our accomplishments achieved during the Hot Spot.

Enjoy your world and Leave No Trace!
