Gabaccia Moreno

Outdoor Access Advocate + Multi-Media Storyteller + Executive Director of The Outdoorist Oath

I am a first-generation multimedia storyteller, consultant, and passionate outdoor advocate #ExploringResponsibly wherever life takes me. Today I serve as the Executive Director of The Outdoorist Oath, an organization creating educational tools and equipping people to ally planet, inclusion, and adventure. I have also served as National Monuments Fellow for Nuestra Tierra Conservation Project, participating in campaigns seeking to make the outdoors more equitable while protecting our shared resources.  In 2021, I was the resident host for the She Explores podcast and a contributor at Backpacker.com.

Why is Environmental Conservation Important to you?

On a simple level, this planet is our home, and caring for her feels common sense. Beyond that, I cannot separate myself from nature, and ensuring its health is ensuring my health and that of my communities. Just in my lifetime, I’ve witnessed negative changes to my natural surroundings. We do a disservice to future generations of all species when we don’t preserve the beauty, abundance, and balance we have in nature.

What is your favorite way to spend free time?

In my free time, you’ll find me writing, advising businesses and nonprofits, or adventuring outside; probably taking photos, fishing, backpacking, hiking, practicing yoga, or conspiring with friends to make the outdoors more welcoming for all!
