Description:
The Burrells Ford area of the Sumter National Forest is a melting pot for a variety of recreational activities and land designations.  This area serves as the gateway to the Ellicott Rock Wilderness area, an access point to the Wild & Scenic designated Chattooga River, as well as an easily accessible front-country day use area for day hikes, fishing, and picnicking.  With all of these activities come many cumulative impacts including undesignated trails, litter, campsite impacts, and some user conflicts.  Our Hot Spot on the Sumter National Forest aims to address these impacts through thoughtful strategy meetings, communication trainings, and community service projects.
