Who: Adults (18+) with some backpacking experience and a reasonable fitness level.

Cost: Mountaineers members $40; non-members $60. Covers the cost of course materials and some food.

What: Offered by The Mountaineers, a Seattle-based outdoor recreation organization, the Leave No Trace Trainer Course will enhance your understanding of Leave No Trace wilderness ethics, equip you with the skills to travel lightly and improve your ability to teach Leave No Trace ethics and skills to others. Participants should have at least a moderate level of backpacking experience and be fit enough to carry an overnight pack for several miles each day. This is not a course in camping or backpacking skills! Through hands-on activities, group discussion and student presentations, participants will learn how to incorporate the Leave No Trace ethics and skills into their outdoor activities, with a particular focus on camping and backpacking. Successful participants will become official Leave No Trace Trainers and receive a certificate from the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics.

Gear: Personal backpacking gear, including backpack, tent, sleeping bag, etc.  A gear list will be provided for all participants.
