The Griswold Scout Reservation has been selected by the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests (SPNHF) and the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension Forestry and Wildlife Program as the New Hampshire Community Tree Farm of 2016. As part of this dedication and celebration, Leave No Trace Awareness trainings will be provided to members of the public who attend. Using the Leave No Trace and Outdoor Ethics message, participants will be introduced to the LNT principles of learning how to plan and prepare for future trips by taking advantage of durable surfaces to camp and hike, properly disposing of waste, leaving what is found where it is found, minimizing the impacts of campfires, respecting wildlife, and respecting others who may travel the same path. Upon completion of the course, participants will be encouraged to enjoy the outdoors responsibly as well as return to Griswold Scout Reservation for outdoor, year-round Advanced Program Experience (APEX) programming and to widely share the Leave No Trace message wherever possible. The course is open to people of all ages. Registration in the Scouting program is not required.
