The Subaru/Leave No Trace Team will be at the Hixon Forest Hot Spot September 16 – 20 partnering with the City of La Crosse Parks & Recreation department on a variety of workshops, outreach programs and community events:

Friday, September 17

Interpretive Walk with Outdoor Recreation Alliance & Leave No Trace
Time: 9am – 11am
Where: Miller Bluff

Join ORA Trails and Leave No Trace for a walking tour and interactive discussion on the responsible and sustainable use of trails and trail interactions. Limited to 15 people. Learn more and register.

Saturday, September 18

Enjoying the Outdoors Responsibly – Family Hands-On Activity Day with WisCorps & Leave No Trace
Time: 9:30 am – 11:30 am
Where: Myrick Park Center, 789 Myrick Park Drive, La Crosse WI

Join WisCorps and Leave No Trace for a morning filled with fun and learning. Together we’ll explore how we can minimize our impacts, protect nature all around us, and enjoy outdoor spaces responsibly. Limited to 50 participants. Learn more and register.

Take a Hike with Land Management in Mind
Time: 4:30pm – 7pm
Where: Lower Hixon Parking Lot (800 Milson Court, La Crosse WI)

If you have ever hiked the woods or walked a prairie and wondered how land owners or land managers would sustainably utilize an area, then come walk from the Lower Hixon Forest to Lookout Prairie to ask your questions and talk about the management options for: invasive species, timber stand improvements, timber harvesting, savanna restoration, prescribed burning, seed collecting, mushroom cultivation and more. Limited to 15 people. Learn more and register.
