New River Gorge - Service Project at the Endless Wall Trail

Join the Subaru/Leave No Trace Team and National Park Service staff and partners for a fun volunteer day at the Leave No Trace New River Gorge Hot Spot. Volunteers will work on projects to address trail impacts to the Endless Wall area such as trail widening and undesignated trails. Volunteers will be introduced to Leave No Trace and the Hot Spot program, receive a rundown on the service project and safety briefing, and learn more about how to protect New River Gorge. This project is limited to 25 volunteers. Register early!

Date: Sunday, August 8, 2021

Time: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm EDT

Where: Fern Creek Trailhead

Important Information:

– Bring a water bottle, lunch, hat, and sunscreen, and mask/face covering (for indoors or where distancing is not feasible). Wear long pants and closed-toed shoes.

– Please bring your own gloves if possible, otherwise, gloves, tools, other PPE as needed will be provided.

Parking & Directions: 

Parking is limited and can be challenging even early in the morning. Please plan to carpool to the extent possible. Additional parking is available at the Nuttall Trailhead, approximately 1/2 mile past the Fern Creek parking area.

To reach the trailhead, turn off Route 19 on Lansing-Edmond Road, located just north of the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. Drive 1.3 miles to the Fern Creek Trailhead, located on the left.
