Need Duct Tape? Wrap Your Trekking Poles!

Guest - March 20, 2016

Jacksonville, FL: When you head out into the backcountry do you bring along a repair kit? We do, but we always look for ways to cut the weight and bulk out of our packs. Trekking poles offer a perfect place to store a repair kit staple, duct tape. Avoid bring the whole roll (along with the weight) by wrapping some tape around the pole underneath the handles. These rolls of tape can double as a second handle for traversing fall lines when in the mountains.

Trekking poles are multifunctional pieces of gear. They can prop up tarps, be used in emergency medical situations, and have been found to reduce knee compression by  about 25%. Next time you head into the mountains consider adding some duct tape to your trekking poles for those unpredictable moments.
