Leave No Trace Spotlight: The Community Forest – Kinnickinnic River Land Trust & Kinni Corridor Collaborative

Leave No Trace’s new Spotlight program is a multi-day event to bring attention to community conservation, spread education, and to build momentum and inspire involvement for the future.

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will be at The Community Forest Spotlight with Kinnickinnic River Land Trust & Kinni Corridor Collaborative May 18-20, collaborating with hosts and partners on a variety of programs including stewardship projects, workshops, and community outreach.

Opportunities to Get Involved:

Thursday, May 18: Open house from 8:00am – 10:00am

Meet with the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team and Spotlight co-hosts. The open house will be at the Country Inn at 1525 Commerce Ct. River Falls, WI 54022.

Thursday, May 18: Farmers’ Market outreach from 5:00pm – 8:00pm

Come out to the weekly Farmers’ Market for fresh, tasty, local food and beverages. Visit with the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team, Kinnickinnic River Land Trust, Kinni Corridor Collaborative, Kiap-TU-Wish, Kinni Lodge & Outfitters, and other local organizations that support sustainable and accessible recreation. The Farmers’ Market is at Rush River Brewery and Bistro, 990 Antler Court, River Falls, WI 54022.

Friday, May 19: Social hour from 5:00pm – 8:00pm

Join the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team and the Kinni Stream Team at The Garage Bikes and Brews to learn about the 2023 River Monitoring Program and Leave No Trace Principles when enjoying outdoor recreation. The Garage Bikes and Brews is located at 109 W Cedar, River Falls, WI 54022.

Saturday, May 20: Get Outside and Leave No Trace hike and service event from 10:00am – 2:00pm

Join friends and family in a self-guided hike along trails to see the native plants and animals and your neighbors and friends. This event includes a nature scavenger hunt for kids, trash collection and education about Leave No Trace while enjoying outdoor recreation. KRLT will have gloves and bags available for the Trash collection or bring your own 5- gallon bucket to pick up litter and recyclables. Meet at The Community Forest parking lot on County Road FF across from the River Falls Dog Park or Kinnickinnic River Trailhead #11 at River Hills Park.
