Bab Evers, River Ridge, LA State Advocate
I live in New Orleans. As Louisiana's State Advocate I want to educate as many people as possible about the ways that we can minimize our impacts on our outdoor recreation resources through incorporation of the Leave No Trace principles into our activities. I, with a cadre of dedicated Masters and Trainers, make myself available to both Boy and Girl Scouting events and training courses for all age levels, and we volunteer for National Trails Days and National Public Lands Days, along with any state or local outdoor agency events. I enjoy putting on the full 16-hour Trainers Course, but I also love working with children in shorter format workshops. Leave No Trace is not as well-recognized down here as it is in other parts of the country, but by tailoring Leave No Trace presentations to the activities most popular down here, we can get people thinking in terms of preservation and conservation so that they can also take those attitudes with them when they travel to other places.
