Matthew Ritter, Annapolis, MD State Advocate
The natural surroundings are my serenity and I want to assure there is always a place to go to reflect. Presently I live in Felton, Delaware and am working hard to assure that the diminishing resources remain natural. Working within State Parks, I hope to continue to offer programs with a Leave No Trace message, incorporate the principles in every day activities, and offer training opportunities to the public, other naturalist, and scouting groups.
When: May 9-10, 2009. 8:30 AM Saturday to 4:00 PM Sunday.
Where: Rodney Scout Reservation, 5 miles south of North East, MD on route 272.
Who: Trainer courses are designed for educators, camp staff and other outdoor advocates who will be involved in training others in the principals and practices of Leave No Trace. Registration is open to camp staff, adult scouters, scouts and the general public. Cost: The cost of $40 will cover all fees, training materials and meals during the course.
Description: The LNT Trainers course is informative, practical, hands-on, and fun. Participants in a Trainers course must have a strong interest in outdoor recreation, a commitment to training others, a desire to protect wilderness resources, and be in good physical condition. Participants learn the concepts of Leave No Trace and prepare to teach Leave No Trace curriculum in a variety of settings - schools, camps, parks, wilderness and front country areas. The majority of the course will take place in an outdoor setting and each participant will be expected to prepare and present a training session on one or more Leave No Trace topics during the course. Your selected topic will be coordinated with the instructors prior to the course date.
